LeMay Valve Cover Races
Family Fun Racing
New Data TBD
Race check-in: 11:00 am
Races begin: 1:00 pm
This “just-for-fun” free event is open to all ages.
Here's what to do:
1. Find an engine valve cover
2. Add wheels
3. Decorate your valve cover
4. Race it!
Consists of two lanes - each approx. 11” wide - separated by a short railing. The gravity ramp is 16′ length x approx. 20-30 degree slope, transitioning
to a flat runway with a tarp at the end to catch the racers. The start gate stop sticks up from the center of each lane about 2 inches.
Practice runs for alignment/adjustments prior to the start of the race are encouraged.

Races will consist of sudden death heats (one run, winner advances) with a two out of three heat final. Heats are determined by hat drawing. First name drawn takes left lane, second name the right. Final heat loser chooses lane for successive runs. Drivers will place and align their own racers at the starting gate and the flagman will release the gate. Handicap (approximate) is determined by distance a racer extends beyond the starting gate (ie. when body clearance exceeds height of starting gate). Crossing the center line before the finish is a disqualification. Any do-overs will be at the discretion of the audience. Judge’s ruling is final!
Fastest Valve Cover (1st/2nd/3rd)
Flashiest/Best Paint Job
Judging will be by anonymous People’s Choice ballot. Voting will begin prior to the first heat, and winners will be announced after the conclusion of the races.
Special awards at end of races for Best Fuel Economy and Judge’s Choice.
