Description

The Hillman Minx made its first appearance on the road in 1932 and went through much iteration before being discontinued in 1970.  The Mark III, introduced in 1948, underwent a significant makeover, replacing the pre-war flat back set-up with an integrated boot or trunk. Hillman also switched to complete unitary construction, “full-width” styling and coil and wishbone independent front suspension. The 1948 Minx was powered by an 1185 cc inline 4 cylinder engine capable of producing 35 horsepower and speeds approaching 75 mph. Badge-engineered versions of this car were sold under the Humber, Singer, and Sunbeam marques.  There were 378,785 Hillman Minx produced between 1948 and 1957.
