1936 would prove to be a good sales year for Ford as they once again pulled ahead of Chevrolet. The styling changes from 1935 were few, but they brought Ford in line with the modern touches the other auto makers were making. The hoods were longer and more pointed and the front profile featured graceful vertical bars on the grille which sharply vee'd.

The sporty phaeton was only available in the deluxe trim package which included three horizontal chrome strips. The horn, long a prominent part of Ford design, were now hidden behind "cat-walk" grilles in the front fender aprons. All this was mounted on a 112 inch wheelbase. The 221 cid V-8 engine produced 85 horsepower.

Selling for $580, there were only 6073 of the Model 68 Phaetons built.
