The Hudson Motor Car Company was founded in 1909 by eight Detroit businessmen. During its 48 year history, Hudson built some of America’s fleetest and finest cars. In 1925 Hudson had boosted its sales to third place, behind only Ford and Chevrolet. Hudson continued to place third, fourth or fifth on volume of sales through 1929. A 1925 Hudson advertisement claimed to be the “World’s Greatest Buy” of the “World’s Largest Selling 6-cylinder Cars”. A leader in design features and fine engineering, Hudson produced a 289 cid, inline 6-cylinder engine that produced 76 horsepower in 1928. The 1928 Hudson listed for $1,250.
