Description

The Gardner Motor Car Company of St. Louis, MO was started by brothers Russell and Fred Gardner.  They started business by making spokes and then buggies.  They began in the automobile business in 1916 by building car bodies for Chevrolet.  In 1919 they began building their own cars and produced them through 1931 when they became another victim of the Great Depression.  In 1922 they carried three different body types; a three passenger roadster, the Model R, a five-passenger touring, the Model T, and a sedan, the model S.  They were powered by a vertical inline four capable of producing over 19 horsepower.  The 1922 Gardner Touring sold for $1,095.
