The Ford Model R was an upgraded version of their popular Model N. Although the Model R had a relatively short life, it was only built from April to October 1907, about 2500 were sold. The basic engine was the same as the Model N, a 149 cid, four-cylinder L-head engine which produced 18 horsepower, but featured a mechanical lubrication system. The Model R used the same chassis as the Model N, but the body was longer and featured improved fenders and full running boards. The price new was larger too at $750, a full $150 more than the Model N.
