Description

The 1976 replica was based on the 1902 curved dash automobiles produced by Olds Motor Vehicle Co. from 1901-1904. Although Henry Ford is often credited with the first automotive assembly line, it was in fact the Olds Motor Company that had the first assembly line. The Ford Motor Company, alternatively, had the first moving automotive assembly line. The name “Oldsmobile” was a colloquial term that eventually became a part of the company’s official logos and marketing. The popular song, “My Merry Oldsmobile” memorialized the vehicle in 1905.
