Marymount was essentially a retirement home and convalescent center for the nuns until the late 1980's, when the church decided to sell the property. When the church solicited proposals from potential buyers, Harold LeMay's proposal was the lone bid that would preserve the buildings and grounds, and the sisters were promised access to Marymount as long as they wished.
The Marymount campus is often considered a "hidden gem" or a "community asset", where visitors can enjoy the LeMay family's nostalgic collections on tours or during private events.
